In most parts of the world, no specific laws exist to regulate odour emissions. We do see a trend in many countries, however, towards official guidelines relevant to obtaining permits to build new production installations.

Authorities increasingly demand specific information on measures that will be taken to reduce not only noise and dust emissions, but also odour emissions. Only when plans include sufficient measures in this regard, is permission to start construction granted.
