Aerox®-Injector

The Aerox®-Injector - Non-Thermal Plasma Technology

The Aerox®-Injector is a highly innovative piece of kit that has been successfully installed at over 90 locations worldwide. It is based on non-thermal plasma technology, but the major advantage of the Aerox®-Injector is that it radiates clean, ambient air sourced from outside the process duct, which it then injects into the process duct. This means that even process air tending towards 100% relative humidity can be treated effectively, without the risk of short circuits and without soiling the plasma units.

Small Unit, Big Results

The Aerox®-Injector is no bigger than a cupboard – an SS304 cabinet, to be exact. It can be placed against the exhaust duct, both horizontally and vertically, between the cyclone and the fan.

Ambient air is drawn into the cabinet where it passes through a series of non-thermal plasma modules, dissociating the oxygen and water vapour molecules present. This process ultimately yields an extremely reactive gas comprising a mixture of unstable oxygen atoms, ions, radicals and the like, with elevated electron energy levels. When injected into the process air exhaust duct, this ‘active oxygen’ executes a high-speed oxidation reaction with the offensive odour molecules it contains. The resultant oxidised molecules cannot be detected by the human nose, hence the odour problem is solved.

Air flows of up to 60,000 m3/hour can be treated using just one Injector. Depending on the exact composition of the process air to be treated, as well as the odour reduction required to meet ground-level fresh-air targets, the Aerox®-Injector will remove odours by up to 98%. That’s very high and in practice, by combining the Aerox®-Injector with an exhaust stack of a certain height, a much lower percentage will often suffice.
